Museum Store Sunday, taking place on November 26th, 2023 (the Sunday after Thanksgiving), is a day dedicated to celebrating the unique shopping experiences offered by museum stores. What's truly remarkable is the global scale of this celebration, with more than 2,100 museum stores participating across all 50 states, 25 countries, and five continents. This year marks Museum Store Sunday's biggest celebration yet! 🛍 🙌🏽

Why should your museum store participate?

Financial Pillars:

Museum stores have evolved into indispensable financial pillars for their respective institutions, playing a pivotal role in generating revenue crucial for their sustenance and growth. According to the Museum Store Association’s Retail Industry Report, on average, museum stores contribute 5%-25% to a museum’s revenue. This flexibility in revenue is instrumental in creating sustainable financial plans.

Ring in the Sales:

The impact of Museum Store Sunday on sales is impressive. Participating museum stores experienced a 39% average increase in in-store net sales in 2022 compared to 2021, accompanied by a 43% average increase in in-store transactions during the same period.

Highlight Your Unique Merchandise & Experiences:

What sets museum stores apart is the distinctiveness of their products. Whether it's handmade jewelry, sustainable gifts, or locally crafted artisan pieces, museum stores showcase carefully curated selections that customers won't find anywhere else.

Unlike commercial retailers, museum stores curate their offerings with a keen eye on cultural relevance, educational value, and institutional values. Customers don't just purchase products; they take home delight, inspiration, and a tangible piece of your museum's mission.

Sustainability:

This year, Museum Store Sunday's theme is sustainability. Museums are encouraged to highlight their commitment to sustainability by prioritizing eco-friendly and ethically-made products created by local artists. By choosing unique gifts crafted within their communities, consumers and museum stores alike can prioritize sustainability while supporting the growth of local economies.

Museum Store Sunday transcends borders, connecting institutions worldwide. Ensure that your museum is part of this global celebration by signing up today.

Let's make this Museum Store Sunday the most memorable one yet!
